Kelly has been working as a bartender for the past 10 years. “It started as a part time job while I was in art school studying painting, but I quickly realized that it is the perfect industry for me. For the first two years I worked at a dive bar pouring many beers and making many rum and cokes, before eventually working my way up to Beverage Director. I wanted to ensure that I would be able to do the job to the best of my ability, so I decided to go back to school to study business. I’m currently pursuing my BA in Business Management & International Business.”
What keeps Kelly passionate about her work? “I wanted to be a chef when I was younger, so making drinks was something I immediately loved. My passion for the job, however, stems not just from my love for making drinks but also from showcasing the spirits we use and telling the stories of their distilleries. At one of my current places of employment, we work exclusively with American craft spirits and our main goal is to talk about the distilleries we work with, to share their stories and the make sure that we are taking care of them in everything that we do.”
Angel’s Envy is a fairly recent discovery for her, as it only became available in Singapore in 2020. “I actually heard about it when I was interviewing for this position. I hadn’t tasted Angel’s Envy before, so my first impression was based on what I learnt from my interview. It came across to me as a family-oriented business with a strong focus on making a quality product. It appealed immediately to me.”
When Kelly is not at either of the bars where she serves as Beverage Director, she loves reading, origami and more reading. Be sure to look for her wherever Angel’s Envy is being poured in Singapore.
