THE INAUGURAL cask strength rye

Crafted by our Master Distiller Owen Martin, this release introduced our first Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Rye Whiskey Finished in Sauternes and Toasted Oak Barrels and bottled at 114.4 proof (57.2% ABV). It expanded our rye program beyond rum-barrel finishing, revealing a richer, layered profile shaped by fortified wine sweetness. It remains a coveted expression among collectors.

RYE FINISH

TASTING NOTES

Bottled at 114.4 proof (57.2% ABV), this spirit features creamy notes of pears, cream, and rye spice on the palate, which lead into a finish of cream soda, black tea, and a floral sweetness.

  • NOSE

Creme brûlée with a hint of orange zest. Ripe honeycrisp apple and buckwheat.

  • PALATE

Honeyed pears, with rye spices, nutmeg, and well-integrated oak. Sweet cream and caramelized sugar.

  • FINISH

Fruity cream soda and floral blanc vermouth. Sweet spices slowly fade into pleasant notes of black tea and leather.

A NOTE FROM OWEN

CASK STRENGTH,
REDEFINED

“I put a special touch on this release by blending barrels selected first-hand of two rye whiskeys. One finished in Sauternes Casks and the other finished in Toasted Oak Barrels. These special barrels offer distinct notes in the whiskey, giving each Cask Strength release a unique nose, palate, and finish. While experimenting with blending, I found that they complemented each other and couldn’t imagine cutting the blend down. And so, Cask Strength Rye was born.”
