Proprietors Worth a Damn: Mike Raymond
Mike Raymond is an industry lifer. Sometimes that speaks to a general lack of ambition. This is not one of those times. Mike is smart and successful enough to co-own and operate a popular whiskey bar in a business with a high burnout rate and an even higher failure rate. Graduating with a B.F.A. in painting from The Atlanta College of Art, he’s worked in the service industry for over 20 years. Over those years, he’s learned to appreciate the finer spirits, and we’re thrilled he’s advocating for Angel’s Envy now.
Mike and his partner, Steve Long, opened Reserve 101 in EaDo four years ago, and if you ever find yourself in Houston we suggest you stop in for a few rounds. Reserve 101 is dedicated to fine whiskey and signature cocktails, and they’ve got the experience to deliver. We were excited to find out what Mike could do with Angel’s envy, and he didn’t disappoint. While his cocktail might take some time and planning to prepare, like so many of life’s finer things it’s worth the wait.
